VOTE NOW TO BOOST REDDITCH SWIMMING CLUB’S CHANCE OF WINNING A SHARE OF £1MILLION FUND
Redditch Swimming Club is on the shortlist to win a share of Persimmon Homes’ Building Futures £1million pot supporting under-18s nationwide, but first they need online votes to win.
Persimmon Homes South Midlands is backing Redditch Swimming Club to be a prize winner at a gala dinner in October, where cash awards of £100,000, £50,000 or £20,000 will be made to those winning the most online votes.
Paul Wilkes representing Redditch Swimming Club said: “It is a huge achievement to have been selected as a regional finalist, but now we really need people to get behind us and get voting so that we are in the strongest possible position to earn one of the top three cash awards on the night.”
Redditch Swimming Club aims to inspire swimmers at all levels and ages to reach their full potential, while promoting a culture of respect. A top prize would allow us to invest in a range of training equipment and provide the funds to support, organise and partake in specialised training camps. The addition of such kit would help our members enormously during their workouts and also benefit the development of the younger swimmers.
He added: “Voting could not be simpler. Just log on to www.persimmonhomes.com/building-futures/ and select Redditch Swimming Club and vote for us. We would really appreciate everyone’s support.”
Building Futures is being delivered through the Persimmon Charitable Foundation. Through the scheme, a total of 128 grants of £1,000 have been awarded to groups supporting sport, education & arts and health across Persimmon’s 31 regional businesses and its head office.
Persimmon Homes is an official partner of Team GB and the Persimmon Charitable Commission enlisted the help of athletes Jason Kenny and Laviai Nielsen, to help determine the three regional finalists for each business division.
One initiative from each category will go on to win £100,000 each through a national award scheme to be decided by a public vote.
As well as the £100,000 first prize, there will be a £50,000 second prize and a £20,000 third prize in each sector, while a further 87 shortlisted projects will each receive £5,000.
Online voting opened on 27 July and will close at midnight on 18 September 2020.

Tomorrow, we say Bon Voyage and good luck to Caitlin Chance as she leaves us to volunteer in Tanzania for a month, before travelling and then off to Cardiff University.
Caitlin has been a member of RSC for many years as a competitive swimmer. At the end of lockdown became a qualified teacher and has been dedicated to the Learn to Swim Program here at RSC. Caitlin is loved by all those that she has trained and competed with and especially those who she has taught. She will be very much missed by all of the team.
We wish Caitlin the very best and look forward to hearing about her adventures. - 04 Mar 2024Success at World Masters Competition
Last week, Paul Wilkes ( our Club Captain ) returned from the World Masters Championships in Doha. He was competing in the Butterfly events. On his birthday, he raced in the 100 fly, where he finished in a fantastic 5th place with a time of 58.44s. Later on in the competition, he competed in the 200 fly event where he won a silver medal with a time of 2:10.28. Both of his swims also won him new British Records in these events in his age group.

Worcestershire take back the Three County Gala Trophy
After loosing the trophy to Gloucestershire last year, the Worcester County team swam their hearts out yesterday in Wolverhampton. Ten swimmers from Redditch were selected to join Jon in the bid to win back the Three County Trophy.

As RSC celebrated 125years, it hosted and supported some Redditch First Schools in the first gala for several years. Moon's Moat were proud to meet the Chairman this afternoon and be supported by some of our amazing young adults. RSC are massively proud of the part you all played today, Thank you!
Spirits were high back at school and the afternoon was described as ''The best day ever''.

A terrific performance by all the swimmers who took part in today's final but when it came to it, Redditch took the lead and won the gala by 3 points. This puts Redditch at the top of the Winter League for the 2nd year running.
