Welcome from Jon Fletcher
09 Jul 2021
I am delighted to be appointed as Head Coach of Redditch Swimming Club.
I have been awaiting the ‘right’ role and the ‘right’ club for a while. I have always admired Redditch SC from across poolside as the swimmers have a fantastic work ethic when competing.
I have developed as a coach over the past 7 years, throwing myself into development programmes with Swim England and have regularly been a Swim England skills coach.
I work with very much a ‘Long Term Athlete Development’ ethos, working hard on skills and technique being of paramount importance. I believe that you can play hard and work hard, I am sure that Redditch swimmers who I have coached on camps would support that although I do everything to motivate and prepare swimmers for competitions in prime condition, I do it with a smile on my face every day.
My philosophy for coaching is that I back myself to bring the very best out of every swimmer I coach, whatever their best can be. If a swimmer is willing to work hard and commit, then they will get every ounce of my effort. I am also very keen on developing fellow coaches, giving help and also responsibility and ownership.
I can’t wait to get started in August. I look forward to meeting everyone at the club and starting to put plans in place to ensure we create an environment for success
Huge congratulations to Redditch SC’s Jon Fletcher, crowned Participation & Community Coach of the Year at the West Midlands Regional Awards—have fun at the National Awards!
